The good thing about the throwdowns, it nudges me to try different things. The special throwdown for this month requires that part of the cook is done in a crockpot. Well, I do that quite a bit due to Thursdays being so busy (we barely have time to eat let alone prepare anything). As I was brainstorming, my thoughts turned to stew specifically Brunswick stew. Now, I cannot honestly say that I had it before but I do know I've never cooked it.

Since time is limited on Thursdays, I started the cook on Saturday by smoking a couple small pork butts on the PBC which became pulled pork. Unfortunately, I didn't get any action shots with them hanging because I left to run an errand and when I got back, they were already at 170*. In the excitement, I forgot. I did get some after I had foiled and pulled from the cooker.

Yesterday night, I prepped my veggies (except potatoes) and meats. In the morning, I put everything together, mixed it together, and set it to cook on low for the entire day.

I was greeted with the following when I got home.

Plated it up and had dinner. Everyone liked it (despite the complaints about the lima beans ).

That's what I thought. :noidea: On the other hand, once they started eating, there was silence about that.

Not a lima bean fan, but I am sure they were great in there.

I love lima beans, was just talking about how I should make them more often a couple of days ago! The stew looks great, your plate shot just glistens with flavour. I have PP and a crock pot right now….. thanks for the dinner tip! :becky:
