A brinkman smoker for $30. Though it's missing a leg.

Seems easy to repair or work around.

Thank you.

Looks like it would be a good smoker for the price. Offer them $20.00. Everything is negotiable

I would say yes! Gain experience, cook good food, and move on!

See what he says if you ask for the flower pot! :-D

I'm getting some pics of the inside to make sure it's not terrible. For $30 it's worth the chance to practice. My Bradley electric smoker is 11 years old and starting to fall apart. I'm looking forward to try wood/lump charcoal.

I anticipate getting crushed for this comment but.... I just can't get my head around a UDS. They just don't seem to be what good BBQ should come from.

I see that they get such huge love here so I'm obviously wrong but my brain sees them as trash cans.

Ok! Ok! Point well taken. I appreciate the advice.

I will get one like what you're posting. I may get the $30 one too - for that price I can try it out and then pass it on to one of my family.

Out of all the ones you highlighted, which did you think was the best product?

The Weber WSM I said All Day Long on ......these run $300 New and last a long time and Guys compete with them - even few Pros.

Second choice - the New Gourmet ........

My problem with the UDS is that I cant transport it. Many trophies have been won with WSMs and UDSs.

To your original question, for 30 bucks it might be a fun project if you have the room.

I actually prefer Cabinet smokers for ease of access but those thin tin foil think ones will just frustrate ya .

get the WSM, it'll out last both brinkman's and be much easier to use and learn from the start. I started with a Brinkman gourmet, it's ok but the WSM is much better.

I won't be much help here, but I will offer my 2 cents...

I had a Brinkmann like that, and I enjoyed it. It was my first smoker and I learned a lot. It isn't airtight and is light in construction. I say offer $20. I made a small charcoal basket out of it with some expanded metal and that really helped.

But, I sold that Brinkmann (for $40) when I bought my WSM so my wife wouldn't give me crap about having too many smokers. I love my WSM and use it a lot. $150 is a good price for a used WSM.

So, I say go with what your budget can afford. Either way you'll be eating some decent Q before too long.

Also, I compete on my UDS and have had pretty good results. So, like I said, I am NO help! I have or have had all three!

I always thought one of those square uprights would be cool to tinker with and mod, nice and portable. I've used an un-modded gourmet it was a pile.
