Lately I’ve been disappointed with my Weber Performer’s performance. The igniter wouldn’t work and the flame would puff. It was virtually useless in lighting the coals. I cleaned out the tube with the wire tool and filled the tank but the results were still poopoo. After deciding to dig a little deeper before throwing money at this problem, I found that the orifice was clogged with dust. A quick wipe and I was back in bizness. Better than ever.

Just thought that this might help others with similar problems as grill season heats up. Might even be worth doing some preventative maintenance.

You keep your tip out of my orifices.

On mine (SS version), the orifice is the metal fitting at the end of the flexible hose. The flexible hose is held in the metal tube that leads into the cooking chamber by a spring clip. You have to remove the spring clip to get at it.

Just picked up a SS DT date code performer. Thanks for the tip. Need to fill my tank and try out the gas starter.
