Had a guest over this evening. He got a huge promotion at his work and we had a small celebration. Best steaks I saw at the store turned out to be chuck steaks. Rubbed them with Simply Marvelous Peppered Cow. Awesome stuff Stephan and cooked them on the Big Steel Keg. Temps were hovering around zero when I lit the coals.

Took a while to get the fire up to my liking. Then darkness was sitting in fast.

It was below zero and dark. Had so much steam on my Thermo Pen I had to plate steaks to check their internal temps. Could not see anything at all. Too much fire to give them the finger poke test.

Added sauteed onions, Pillsbury canned biscuits and smashed taters to make the meal complete. Those chuck steaks turned out excellent as was the entire meal. Thanks for looking. :thumb:

Great job Mikey! I hate cooking in the dark as I am a visual cook but you obviously did a great job as I would expect. I don't believe that I have ever grilled a chuck steak but now I want to try one. :thumb:

I will definately do chuck steaks again. No grizzle plus very well marbled. Wifey said that was her new favorite steak.
Think I will buy a good sized chuck roast and cut it into steaks.
P.S. Not smoking again until it warms up a bit here.

Them looked real good.
And I'd suggest buying the roast and taking that route, I've found it to be a bit better for marbling. As they tend to cut the leaner ones up for steaks.

The package was stamped chuck steaks. Looked like it was made from a chuck roast.

I'd hit that! I love chuck steaks. Great beef flavor and marbling for the money.
