Curious as to where everyone buys their pink salt aka curing salt #? I'm getting ready to order spices for my rubs and am looking around.

I bought mine on Amazon.

I bought this one from Amazon a few weeks back, and it has turned out some nice bacon and pastrami so far:

http://www.amazon.com/Hoosier-Hill-Farm-Prague-Powder/dp/B008X6KE0E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392795991&sr=8-1&keywords=cure+%231

But since then I've run across a better deal from butcher-packer.com:

http://www.butcher-packer.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=237_12&products_id=56

I don't know how much the shipping is though. I suppose it could be a really good deal if you had to buy some other things from them as well on the same order.

UPDATE: Ok I just checked the shipping cost from butcher packer and it is QUITE high.. like $12.75 for this 1 pound of salt..

I've bought it from a local meat market who cures their own bacon, sausage, etc. in the past.

I get mine from the Sausage Maker. It's about $10 per pound.

-> I might add that they have a local store on my way home from work, so shipping is not required for me.

You can find it locally at a multitude of places.

But you save money if you buy from a distributor like The Sausage Maker (http://www.sausagemaker.com/) or Clifco Spice Sales (http://www.clifcospicesales.com).

They have it at the HEB by me in Austin. It is on the bulk spices shelf in the bulk food aisle. You can buy as little or as much as you want.

I bought two small spice jar sized bottles from Academy for $1.99 each. I think I'll buy larger amount through Amazon though.
