What are your favorite, must have BBQ Tools? I'm looking for a few items to purchase and I'm not sure what some of you others use.

For starters, I'm looking for descent quality and high functionality for the following: A BBQ topper for ABT's and such. BBQ mitts/glove and a storage box for my Guru and temp probes. Any other tools that you use, and find as 'must haves' not listed above?

Oxo tongs of various sizes (I have 3), of course a really good term, does it need to be the expensive thermapen, no but the faster the better to close lid quickly. I went over kill but due to my job we get a surplus of stuff so I have a small pelican/STORM that holds my guru and probes etc. a good set of rubber cotton lines heat restistant mid-forearm gloves, makes pulling multiple briskest and butts off easy and quick.

My list is...

Ove Glove
Black Night gloves for handling hot food
metal awl or skewer for testing butts and briskets
Buttula or big spatula

Plus normal supplies like foil, foil pans, hotel pans, pan liners.

I REALLY miss my Lodge grill gloves. I melted them earlier this winter. :tsk:

THESE (http://www.casa.com/p/lodge-mfg-lodge-leather-gloves-red-237435?site=CA&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc_C&utm_term=ZPV-1854&utm_campaign=GoogleAW&CAWELAID=1309138168&utm_content=pla&adtype=pla&cagpspn=pla) are the ones I had.

Other than that, I would also have to say the things I use nearly EVERY TIME:

Thermapen (ORANGE ONLY - They're the fastest :becky:)
Buttula
Long tongs
Stainless full hotel pans
Chimney starter
Foil or butcher paper

I really do like the black meat gloves too, but since I got holes in my last pair, I just started using doubled up knit gloves with nitrile gloves over the top.

There are so many items it is hard to pick just one....

Pit Gloves, Insulated Food Gloves, ThermaPen, Injector, BBQ Guru.... They all serve a purpose....

I'd have to say the BBQ Guru has allowed me to get a sound sleep whole the food cooks overnight. Yea it used to be fun to stay up and check the smoker and have a few drinks while enjoying the solitude. But always tired the next day during the festivities. Once I passed 60, I treasure my sleep.

I just received this spatula from my Grand-Daughter so it's a tie.... Her tiny fingerprints are all over it LOL....

A similar thread came up here a couple months ago and the one thing that I picked up on from that that has become invaluable to me is a LED head-strap lamp. I use it all the time, especially in the winter when it gets dark earlier.

I got a led headlamp for Christmas and thought it was a joke. I use it for every cook in these short winter days. I love it!

I have one OXO Barbecue Tongs, and I could possibly use another! I do own one Instant Read Thermapen, bear claws and two head lamps!

The Pelican cases look sharp! I will look further at those!

I will also look at a pig tail, any particular brand, size, that are better then others?

IamMadMan. I like that spatula shown in your picture. What make, model is it?

Wampus. I just purchased a pair of the gloves. Thank you for the link!

Great answers everyone! Make this site so worth being a part of! :whoo::whoo::whoo:

Another item I really like is the Weber BBQ lights that clip to the handle of my S-330. I bought two of them and they light up my grill surface really well.

My Daughter went to Lowes and said they were on clearance for $9.00 and my Grand-Daughter wanted her to buy it for Poppa.... Lol

It unlocks and folds for storage, all stainless, and I have lifted 20 pounds with it as a test before I actually use it. It sure would make getting butts out of the smoker easier with the 24" reach..

I have lots of toys and gadgets.

I have a BAS (big arse spatula), thermapen, maverick, pitmaster iq110, bunch of different tongs, shakers, grinders, weed burner.

But out of all of them, my favorite bbq accessory is a nice cold beer.

LOL! Beer... Got that one covered! Good tequila, got that covered too! :eusa_clap

The webber lights are a good idea too! Might have to go with the head lamps for now, or I will go broke just getting new accessories. My new LS vertical was $$$ and it's not going to be here for a few more weeks.

Charcoal Chimney is a necessity

KBB Charcoal and webber chimney are already waiting in the garage.

Lots of great ideas for the newbie here! Many thanks everyone for all the input!

Remote Thermometer (I don't own one, but my buddy does and he swears by it): http://www.jnsistore.com/shop/product.php?productid=17856&cat=309&page=2

I was at the Costa Mesa Swap meet and one of the booth vendors had this set of tongs. He loved them and he wished he could sell them.

I want one of these too! What size/dimensions is the tray? Probably good for ABT's, MOINK balls shrimp, etc.... Any other brands out there that you feel are good quality; easy to clean and don't warp?
