I am curious what other competitive cookers have used successfully in this category. Specifics-it is the last item to turn in. I have good success with pecan tassies and apple caramel cakes.
I try to use desserts when it is the last turn in.
Look forward to a open discussion.

How about a multi layer Cheese Cake, wins almost every time.

I heard once that a cheesecake did well.

It could have just been a rumor though. :-P

What is this cheesecake you all speak of??

I'm sure you checked, but there isn't a separate dessert category right? Lots of times they have both anything butt and dessert categories.

Sounds interesting. You would have to start it Friday night I would think to get it done and cooled for a Saturday turn in. Multi-layer? Do you mean like chocolate and vanilla?

Last item to turn in sounds like a pia unless it's done ahead of time. Did they give you a turn in time?
I baked apples stuffed with a cheesecake mixture in a Dutch oven with some success...always tweaking it.

Perfect 180 at the 2011 American Royal. Prepared on site. Cooked on a Memphis Wood Fired Pellet Grill. You will need a freezer.

A lot of us judges like things that are cold or frozen. They just seems to hit the spot after 4 meats. Whatever you do remember to have that WOW look to it.
