With thanks to Abangs and SRFshane, I was the lucky recipient of a Snake River Farms brisket for the Gainesville Jaycees raffle. Now for the real question....cook it now, or save it for a competition?

Thanks again Andy and Shane!!

Thanksgiving wouldn't work unfortunately. Too many turkey purists to please. Although the weekend after thanksgiving would definitely work. Hmmmmm.....

No way I could save it for long. Every time I would walk by the freezer that brisket would say cook me... cook me. I say cook now and ask questions later. :becky:

I think you should sit it beside the turkey and see which one leaves first :becky:

With my non BBQ loving family, I'd be the only one eating the brisket.

Then you will have just enough if you cook it now. I couldn't stop eating it.

Chad, don't waste that beauty on a comp. It won't help with your scores, anyway!:-P:laugh:

I'm in charge of cooking the meat. I too have a purist Thanksgiving group. I guarantee that there will be turkey for days, you better get your ham and brisket quick. I've got a couple relatives that bring zip lock bags that will be filling their take home stash before some have even filled their plates.

Cook it, COOk it, COOK IT NOW.

Every once in awhile I can cook a brisket right. Just not when I need to be in the top 6 apparently. :thumb:

Cook it now. Would not use it for comp unless I used srf all the time.

I do use SRF for comps. I'm not good enough otherwise :becky:. Even then I manage to screw it up every now and again.
