Hey friends,
Planning on smoking a brisket on Sunday for some friends over some white oak I just got delivered.
I don't wanna do a full one, and I know briskets can be halved into "flat" and "point" I believe sections?
If I had to choose one half, which would give me optimal results?
Much obliged.

Point half. You will still have some flat under the point for the folks that like lean and the point for people who like "flavor"

+1 on the point, if your not cooking a whole packer.

Cut the at sucker right straight down the middle best of both worlds.

Yes, split lengthwise is what I would do also.

+2 on the point, whip up some wicked burnt ends to go with the part of the flat that comes with it! Yum!

I like the cuti it down the middle lengthwise idea, gets you the best of both worlds and still have some for later. or just cook it all, cut a little from both and vacuseal the rest for yourself later.

I've had the butcher cut it in half for me before so I still have point and flat

I would cook the whole thing and either give your friends some leftovers or freeze then for your self

+1 here You can have lots of left overs and lots of burnt ends You probably will not have much left over

Smoke the whole thing and make the brisket and fatty chili that diesel dave made with your leftovers. Yummmmmmmmmm!
Seen them at the grocery store today. Half briskets trimmed. 3.99 cut right down the middle. Point and flat. Thought I'd try it.

Whole (freeze leftovers) or split lengthwise.

Yeah split it in half length wise, why not get the best of both?

If I could only cook the point or flat, I'd cook the point. The problem with that is now I'm left with only the flat for next time.

I suppose great minds think alike....
