She finally makes it home to daddy!!! The delivery guy was able to answer all my questions, give some good advice , and seemed just as excited as I was, being that this is my FIRST LANG. By the way he welcomed me to the Lang family it just assured me that I made the right choice. I was really impressed with the Lang staff, from the receptionist, to Ben himself, but I must say that the delivery was the icing on the cake. Unlike a freight company, these guys where part of the lang experience and i thought it was a nice touch. They were on the way to deliver one of the three 108 models that was used in the season finale of BBQ Pitmasters!!!! I mean one that was actually used while filming the episode!!!! That bad-boy was HUGE!!! I should have took a pix. "Thanks TO MY LOVELY WIFEY FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE"

After the delivery guys got her unloaded, they gave me a hand getting her into my backyard, her new home. Notice the red & white oak, with a little hickory in the back ground. I got the wood about three weeks ahead of time

Don't be afraid of 275*, cause that 48 isn't. Half of one of the splits in the firebox shot every 35-55 minutes and the rest is downhill.

This is where I started, from charbroil grill to charbroil offset,my weather worned
set up. I'm in the process of removing the rust and restoring the finish on my babies before its too late. I already purchased some tarp to keep them covered.

I have been eyeballing new smokers, and the Lang is on the list, but I thought they used second shelves on legs, have they switched over to a railed shelf or did you order that special?

The top railed shelf is now standard. When ordering I asked for that mod, but was told it was standard now and to disregard the pixs on the website

I just got my Lang and I can tell you that it is the greatest cooker I've ever had!
Mine was a year old and cooked on by a brother here, thanks firefighter, and the flavor you'll get from that cooker after some time is amazing!

I know you'll be real happy with your choice

Two more questions about this beauty, what is distance from the bottom shelf to the top shelf and from the top shelf to the ceiling of the chamber? Thanks!

Congrats on your new rig! That wood pile will dwindle down quick I imagine....

Come springtime (need my tax returns to help fund it), I'll be buying either a Lang 48 just like yours, or a 24x48 on a trailer from PCC. I'm so confused as which to get! When I see pics of someone getting a new Lang like yours, I want a Lang. When I see pics of a PCC cooker, I want one of them. Damn you for not making my choice any easier, but thank you for doing so as well! I really like seeing someone's new baby!

Gorgeous!

I'm waiting on my 36" now. I hope they come standard with the rail shelf, as well. I didn't think to ask.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to get delivered from the time you ordered? My birthday weekend lands right at the front edge of the 3-4 week estimate they gave me. Hope it's sooner rather than later so I can cook on it for a friend coming in town to visit!

Nacho-
Ben Lang emailed me back and said ALL the slide out top shelves are standard now. I asked the same question to him because it says they are on the website for the 36, but not the 48. I like the slide out feature 10x better than having a leg in the middle of the cooker to work around.

ajstrider
10-16-2013, 12:35 PM
While they haven't updated website pictures, the text says sliding is now standard.
