I cooked 3 butts for a beach golf trip. Pulled it, let it cool overnight, vac packed it, and froze it. Each pac is around 3 lbs with a total of 6 pacs. If I transport on ice will the packs stay frozen? It's a 4 hour trip. I'll keep the cooler in the car not the trunk.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

sold ice is well below 32 degrees and ice water is 32 degrees so if you're starting out with frozen meat you'll definitely still be frozen or worst case partially frozen. It really doesn't matter as long as it's kept below 40 degrees though.

sprinkle some table salt on the ice to lower the temperature, keeping the meat frozen longer.

Frozen and on ice will be fine. You're only looking at a 4 hour trip.

I transported frozen Que for 2.5 days from FL to Md a few years back.
Packed in ice in a cooler in the bed of the truck.
Still frozen rock hard on arrival.

I agree, 4 hr trip it won't be thawed yet in the cooler without ice. I'd thaw it, then put into the cooler with ice for the trip.
