Is Beech any good for smoking?

Hi, a question for all you experienced smokers. I have a large pile of beech seasoning ready for my wood stove this winter. Would this be good to use on my UDS and what are its properties? Also when using wood with charcoal for smoking should it be fully seasoned or does it not matter?

English beech is a different tree than American beech, but I suspect it is similar. American beech is good and produces a mild smoke.

Beech seems to be a preferred smoking wood in Europe, so I don't see why it wouldn't be good here. I doubt if there is much difference in flavor between American beech and European beech-I've cut down and sawed up several of both over the years, and the wood seems to be pretty much identical, shouldn't be any more difference than using one or another of the many species of hickory.
