Anyone here got a copy of Adam Perry Lang's "Serious BBQ" that they would be willing to loan me long enough to browse and figure out if I want to pay the premium prices being asked for it on Ebay for used copies? $89 is the best price I can find on a used copy at this point and I'd like to check it out first.

I'd be willing to pay shipping both ways on the book...

It is available at my local library.
Any book they don't have, they will locate, borrow and ship in for cost of postage.
It is a nice way to try before you buy.
Support your local library.:-D

I won't lend ya my book, but have you gone to Barnes and Noble? I know the web site states $89.99, but i found one on the shelf and paid less than $40.00. They could only charge me the price on the dust cover.

Look in small bookstores that have low turnover-I've seen a few new copies in local bookstores for $35 the last few months. I can't believe how the price has went up on that thing. I bought my copy used on Amazon for about $10 less than a year ago. It's a pretty good book, but nothing that great that would make me want to pay the money they want for it.

$90 for a used book? Is that a joke?

Yeah, I just left Amazon and they want $89 used for it as well! At the end of the day isn't it just another cookbook?!? I collect music as a hobby and I once saw an old LP in "good" but not "excellent" condition for over $500 on Amazon! My Dad had bought the album back in the day for about 1% of that price new!! What's going on?!?

Typical recipe: Cook everything like you usually would, except fancier and more complicated and add more steps so it'll take longer. Marinade/inject/brine, spice rub, basting sauce/glaze or wrapping mixture, seperate sauce to put on the cutting board when you slice it. The two constants: Add 10-30 cloves of garlic with the germ removed, grated on a Microplane grater to every marinade/sauce. Sprinkle everything with fleur de sel before serving. He must own a garlic farm and a company that distributes fleur de sel and Microplane graters. :biggrin1: It actually does have some really good recipes and techniques if you read between the ever-present microplane and fleur de sel references. I feel like I learned quite a few things from it.

I bought mine off of Amazon for around 40.00. You just have to check back frequently. I have been very pleased with the book, and it provided some different ways to look at things. I have used several of the techniques and thought they were worth it, and several that were not worth it for me. I am proud to have it in my BBQ book library.

I bought mine about a year ago at a local Books a Million for $35.00 and they even pulled it off the shelf and held it for me for a couple of days.

IMO, it's not worth all the hype and shouldn't have cost $35.

You'd think they have this on kindle by now. Really nothing revolutionary in there. His big thing is his wrapping liquids and his love for "board sauces" where he chops up fresh herbs into the liquid that gushes out of the meat when you slice it
