What hot sauce do you use for your mix of this recipe? Last time I used “Frank’s” and it was pretty good but I wanted to try something different this weekend.
Any suggestions?

Texas Pete, Cholula, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Crystal, really anything that you like.

The Cholula and Louisiana Hot Sauce are my favorites of those flavor wise. Pequin/Arbol VS Cayenne. Choose your poison.

Try it with sriracha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sriracha_sauce)

It goes really well with the vinegar and pork. I use it instead of franks when I want the shack attack sauce spicier then normal.

I just made two batches a couple weeks ago. One was with franks and the other with texas pete i did this just to compare and see what i liked better. I couldnt tell any diff between the two.. I was really surprised because these two hot sauces taste nothing alike in my opinion.

Well I was thinking along those lines. I like Franks and Texas Pete but I feel their flavors are somewhat muted when mixed with the apple cider vinegar.
I was trying to find a hot sauce that had a bit more to it – I really like the Sriracha but I wonder if it might be a little much for the girls.

The Ghost Pepper Sauce would plain kill them

I've used a different Hot sauce every time. Tiger Sauce is great.

I just used Sriracha in my take of this sauce in a local comp and won the popular vote with it on my pulled pork. Won me a half a hog

Sriracha is pretty mild heat wise:

Huy Fong Foods Sriracha sauce ranks in the 1,000-2,500 heat units range, above banana pepper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_pepper) and below Jalapeño pepper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jalape%C3%B1o_pepper), on the Scoville scale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoville_scale) used to measure the spicy heat of a chili pepper.

This list may be of interest:

Cholula is in at 3,600 Scovilles

This one is even more extensive listed in descending order.

This has all been helpful – right now I am debating between the Sriracha and the Tabasco Chipotle.

I was thinking it would put a little smokey flavor to the Shack sauce. I tend to use Shack sauce on more than BBQ.

Ah, c'mon Pat. The peppers are hot, yes, but the sauce is a mere 650,000 Scovilles.

This stuff is amazing. Hard to find outside of the Northwest, but very worth it.

If you want to try something different for this awesome sauce, instead of changing up the hot sauce, change the mustard that you are using.

You will be amazed at how much better the sauce can taste if you get away from using the generic mustard called for...

I used the sriracha when I made the sauce to sample it and the family loved it. Even my daughter who doesn't like anything with hot sauce in it.

Maybe someone can advise me as to how long can the sauce be refrigerated/kept?

Try Tabasco Habanero. I made it with Texas Pete and didn't care for the flavor.

Sorta on topic question, but how long will a batch (1 mason jar) of this sauce last in the fridge?

I used Texas Pete in mine by the way, and it's pretty much amazing!
