Since it is briquettes and not lump, it slows the thermapen down quite a bit. It is probably the slowest of the thermapens.

I've read all the "mine's faster than yours, but never thought to look at the price. Why are they so expensive?

You get what you pay for. It is a super accurate super fast thermometer that is water resistant, and very durable.

There are members on here that have had the same thermapen for 3+ years without changing the battery. Very few people have problems with their thermapen and if they do, Thermoworks has amazing and fast customer service/repair.


Are there cheaper products that can do the same basic job? Absolutely. Are they as fast and accurate as the thermapen and have the same service shoudl something break? Nope.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with not splurging for gadgets that aren't a necessity. It is better for your wallet and you can still put out great food without owning a thermapen.

I had a hard time justifying the cost, but they really are worth it. I mean, as much as you can quantify accurate temps

thermoworks rt600c almost as fast, same customer service, just as accurate, 1/5 the price.

I use the RT301WA from Thermapen. Not quite as fast but I'm not in no hurry. Also only 19.00
