So my new smoker will be coming soon, and it sounds like one of the fast and easy ways to clean it up is with a weed burner. So can someone link (maybe on Amazon) me the unit they use. What BTU do you use, pros & cons, what to look for, best way to use, etc....

Thanks guys!

This is the one I use. 500k BTU's which is more than you will ever need. There is a 400K BTU version which is basically the same exact thing but cheaper. I never need to open the valve all the way, but its nice to have the option. This thing is a farking flamethrower

I've had my Harbor Freight torch for about a year and it has treated me well so far. I use it for starting my UDS as well as our fire pit. I also use it for cleAning off the grate for my UDS too. It has way more output than I ever use. And it was cheap!

I'm sure there are higher power ones, but it would be a waste for me because I don't even use the power of the one I have.

Plus 1 on the harbor freight one. I love mine. I suggest spending the extra couple of dollars and getting the one with a starter.

I use the Bernzomatic 19425 JT850 Self-Igniting 20,000 BTU Outdoor Torch that can be found below on Amazon.

Amazon.com: Bernzomatic 19425 JT850 Self-Igniting 20,000 BTU Outdoor Torch: Patio, Lawn & Garden

You Also need a CRL Standard Propane Fuel Cylinder found on Amazon as well, though pricey or at a local hardware store.

I use it mostly with the UDS and mini-WSM lighting about 4-5 coals really well. Other thanrice, no complaints. I wonder why I didn't use one before...it is really a lot easier than other lighting options-for me!

Plus 2 on Harbor Freight.
That's exactly what I did as well, per the advice right here. Good call.

Just a note on the Weed Dragon. If you are using a 20# cylinder, don't open the valve on the cylinder too fast. It will cause the safety valve to activate and won't let gas out. My friends bought one of these and that was happening to them. They were getting frustrated and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. They wanted to borrow the one I picked up at Harbor Freight. I went over and figured out what was wrong with theirs. They took mine just in case.

I'm happy w/ my manual-start HF flamethrower. $15.

Make sure to buy some welder's gloves when you're there. (Unless you like the smell of burnt arm hair).

++ for Harbor Freight.... It's scares the heck outta my wife though, I think she thinks I'm gonna burn the house down or something. Also, save yourself $10.00 and don't get the one with an electric starter. It's much more fun to light it with a firestick

Plus 5 or 6 or where ever we are. Love my flame thrower. The starter works great, some had said it will break quickly but I am going on a year and it still works like a champ.

I love it, the Beagles hate it.
