Anyone pick up one of the Acorn Jr's yet? I bought one at Menards yesterday and wanted to see if anyone else has used one. Ill try to post pictures of it later.

It's adorable, but I don't know how useful something that small would be. Perhaps rolling a single rack of ribs? It's only 100 bucks less than the Akorn, and 1/4 as useful. I'd pick it up for 100, maybe 125 but 200? no way jose.

It is about the same size as a small BGE that I have. It is great for steaks and small stuff if you are cooking for yourself or 2. If you want to cook for more people it will not work. I do find that is is hard to smoke a pork butt on my cooker because the coal are too close and there is not much smoke flavor. If you can, go exchange it for the full size Akorn, you will not regret it.

Looking forward to seeing the pics. I think someone posted some awhile back but don't remember who or when.

I hadn't even heard of it yet. However I usually have trouble fitting everything on my regular akorn. Look forward to seeing the pics of it.

I would get a baking stone that will fit on the supports for the regular stone and make sure there is space around the stone for air flow. I don't know if there is a stone that small. Another option is to get a grate that will fit in there and use firebricks in place of the stone.

Yes, pics please. I tried googling it and can't find anything. Thanks, and congrats on your new kooker.

Instead of firebricks I would get a terracotta flowerpot saucer. They come in wide range of sizes and work real well. Wrap it in foil first of course :-)

Finally got the Jr put together. Looks like good build quality. Looking forward to lighting it up this weekend.

I dig it, nice. How big is that thing? I still don't feel my eggs are durable enough to take with me. Would love one of those to throw in the trunk and take to work.

The grate is roughly 14 1/2". It should hold up to a trunk OK:-D

It's on the menard website. I would cost about $228 shipped to California. It looks cool, but can it out-perform a mini wsm? Also, if it's like a small BGE, it's use is very limited.

I have the bigger one and for a family of 5 sometimes find it is very limited in space for what im trying to cook. When I found them on sale I think mine only wound up costing me about 60$ more then the mini.I love the way they work and how efficient they are but the mini to me looked like it would be to small and not quite as versatile as the bigger one and looking online before hand I couldnt find accessories for the mini.Good luck with it, and I hope you enjoy it they are nice:thumb:

Judging from the pics and knowing the grate is 14.5", should be 30" tall, max, including legs and dome cap.
