It is a good looking smoker, and I like the price on it. Please let us all know how it works. Do you plan on running it with a guru?

I have an old stoker I haven't used in years, but the Guru is now WiFi, so I am considering the Guru. I guess I'll see how it works without before I consider getting the Guru.

I'll update you this weekend when i season it and cook a couple fatties.

How much space is between the drop in water pan and the charcoal basket? How many pounds of charcoal do you think it can hold?

With the 6" water pan there is 3.8" between the top of the charcoal pan and the bottom of the water pan. I imagine one could use a 4" hotel pan instead of the 6" if more distance was required. I could have gotten the slide-in water pan, but the added expense was too much. I figured when looking at the pictures I could drop a piece if 1/8" or 1/4" plate in the bottom and put the water pan above that because the slide in water pan takes your lowest shelf position. After getting the unit, looks like that indeed will work. I will try that after I get a few cooks in..

It appears that the charcoal tray will hold a whole bag of charcoal, (714 cubic inches measured out)

I was afraid at first about ample air flow around the steam table pans, but there is enough flow around.. Very versatile cooker.

whats up with the door gasket?

Just needs the loose ends trimmed, it wasn't noticeable with the door closed.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll check it before I fire it up.

Nice smoker! Are those grinder marks around the door? If so you think they would take a little extra time on finishing when spending 2k on a smoker.

Top right front corner looks mangled too (unless it's a reflection of light in the photo)

That's just me, I know it does not affect functionality :thumb:

Thanks for clarifying Smokinit, are these gravity fed?

BTW, will you be at WP this weekend - if so do you use them? If so would like to stop by and see one up close :thumb:

The top right corner is fine, that just a reflection.

The door is going to be fixed, I just need to do a big cook next weekend and then the door will be fixed. I could have left the unit, but did not want to take the chance of not having the new cooker on the 12th.

I will break it in this weekend...
