anybody ever put handles on a wsm? the only ones i could find that fit real good are a pair of garage door handles, but they are made out of galvanize. i figure they will be safe being on the outside but they probably will get hot and somebody told me that galvanize could create dangerous fumes if heated.anybody have experience with this sort of thing? thanks.

There not going to hurt anything on the outside of the cooker. IMHO.

galvanized is fine on the outsdei.. but the metal will get hot.

Kitchen cabinet knob type handles(as opposed to loops) work well.. and the ones that are mostly wood, dont get hot.

racer, i'm pretty sure he means some handles on the side of the main chamber so it can be lifted off of the bottom piece to add fuel or whatever.

I dunno about those handles.

Seems like to me that if the load (water/sand, meat) is not perfectly balanced then the barrel of the wsm is gonna tilt and perhaps swing.

And if it goes to swinging, I don't think you can really stop it with those handles.

Me thinks a two screw wider handle is more stable (with the screws in line horizontal).

But then, my eyes are crossed, my light saber is limp and I have a blue hat...

I might agree with racer. I would go to a marine store and get some small teak grab handles. Mod the ends to fit the curved surface, four holes and four screws later, your done.

I agree with Racer too.

His eyes are crossed, his light saber is limp and he has a blue hat...

and besides that.. the 2 links i supplied have other ideas too... I kinda like the wooden kitchen cabinet handles. they wont get as hot, and they mount with 2 screws to stop from tipping.

If I had broadband at home it would've been earlier.

Four holes? After the largest 3 - I think it would get extremely painful.

I pulled mine on my ECB and put them on my WSM. They seem to work just fine.
