Hey guys, had a question regarding a firebasket. I want to use my UDS as a grill also so can I have a 18 inch bottom by 6 inches tall firebasket? Or would that be to small for smoking or to big for grilling? Thank you guys appreciate the time.

It depends on what youre smoking, you could grill with it though, but it would have to be near the grate. Like adding another 3 bolts about one foot below your grate so the 6 inch tall basket can sit on that, and you can grill.

I use expando rings that will fit inside charcoal baskets on both 22" & 18" charcoal grate bases. They hold @ 5-6 lbs of briqs and are about the size of a Weber Rapid Fire chimney starter and will last long enough to cook ribs (@6+ hours). For almost any long cook I only use @10 lbs of briq and the meats are done long before the coals burn out.

I'm in Bothell, so hit me up if you have any ???'s
