I often put salmon and tuna on my grills and smokers. Never had an issue with residual taste/odor.

My wife can tell what brand of charcoal and what kind of wood I use and she has never mentioned a fishy odor or taste.

I have not had any problems with lingering fish odor or taste after smoking fish in my WSM's at all. Just make sure any drippings get cleaned up, along with the grates, and you're good to go.

i've never had a problem in a kettle or cajun bandit.

however several people, including harry soo, warn against it.

My mini project is my answer for this.. I was afraid to flavor the next thing I want smokey so a muds just for fish is on the way.

I did have a residual smell one time on my pellet grill and then did a high heat burn for a couple of minutes and no more

Not an issue of lingering odor... smoking takes the aromatics in another direction and level.
Normally plank salmon often.. however have used a raised grate in a tray.

The biggest derailment of a thread ever!
