• Bird Season again pt 1 (smoked Dove)

So its been that time again.... Been trodding the hills and swamps of Jamaica looking for birds. Just kinda getting around to posting some pr0n of the bounty. :thumb:

Cooked up a couple of last weekend's birds Monday night.

Mixed up a marinade of soy, hoisin, teriyaki, oj, garlic, herba & spices and let em sit for a few:

threw them on the hot smoker and let em go off to the side of a logwood fire:

Man, Those appear to be some huge doves! Are they doves like we have here in Kansas or some other breed? About all we can get out of a dove around here is the breast meat and certaily would have trouble trying to fix them like that.

Dove season is open here, and I wake up to the sound of shotguns just about every farking morning. You can hunt in the suburbs here, as long as you are 600 feet from a house, and 1,200 feet from a school.

I don't see the rustic romance of hunting in the field behind WalMart, but enough people do to wake me up.

Glad to hear you are going to the "hills and swamps" to hunt -- like real hunters do.
