Looks good. I paid 159 for mine ts a charbroil. To my understanding they are heavier . Offer him 100 & just see how they react go up ten then ten surely take 125. But

It looks good in the pics. She knew enough to tell me it was NOT a charbroil and that is was a thicker metal unit.... we shall see. This will be my first off set so now i get to learn how to use a new smoker!!

It's worth $150, imo. That's a 1/4 inchthick "tank" of an offset. I love mine. :-D

From Horizon:

Oklahoma Joe’s was started by Joe Davidson, Roger Davidson ( Owner of Horizon Smokers) is Joe’s little brother and was Vice President of Oklahoma Joe’s. Joe sold Oklahoma Joe’s to Charbroil in 1998 and they were told that the factory in Stillwater would stay open, but as soon as the contract to sale was signed Charbroil closed the plant. So Roger then called Brinkman to come and take over the plant with all of Oklahoma Joe’s old employees. Then eventually Brinkman started moving all of the production overseas and closed the plant. Which leads to Roger opening Horizon in 2002. That’s the story of Horizon, Oklahoma Joe’s, and Brinkman.

Well it was a newer unit with 1/8 inch stock. Well cared for and i felt 120 was still a good deal
Here we are reseasoning.

I have the same one, just an older model. Now that my trailer build is done (more or less) I'm going to turn the Brinkman into a reverse flow. As it stands now, I have use of only half the grate due to the hot spot near the fire box. Good luck w/ yours! Sounds like you got a good deal!

I bet this unit came from the new Acadamy sports in Ft. Smith.

Yeah, this is where she said she bought it. While running it last night the therm that came with it held @ 225-250 for 2 hours with a chiminy of lump and a small 3x6 oak log.

12guns: I can see a problem with heat near the fire box but i think i am going to add a spacer plate to the inside of the fire box dropping the opening into the pit and closing it down some.

You can see how large the opening into the pit is. The grates are right there at the top

Good! Glad you got it. I opened up the CL link and saw it had been pulled.

You might be able to fab a damper in the opening and get more grill space.

I was thinking of making a plate that is spaced off of the pit ~1/4 inch to allow good flow but act as a heat shield as well. Any thoughts?

Horizon makes a diffuser plate for that unit.

I am not sure if there are even heat issues but based on my observations and a report of a hot spot at the firebox i made this mod. Just put on some chicken breasts and had only a 10 degree at 220-240.
