I've seen several people say they clean the ash from their ceramic cookers using a shop vac. Even shop vac's have filters.....doesn't the ash clog them up right away?

They make one that fits right on top of a 5 gallon bucket. I don’t have one yet but i've been thinking about it. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but i've heard good things. Lowes or home depot has them.

What does everyone use?

Shop vac works fine.
I added a smaller piece of flexible tubing (approx 1 inch) that fits thru the ash/air intake better on the end of the vac hose. It makes clean up a breeze. Remember to wait until the coals are out. :)

I use a shop vac. The ash pan seals so good I don't want to chance screwing it up.

You could also pick up a chimney vac. They're usually SS and don't have a filter made specifically for picking up hot coals / ashes.

Usually smaller than a shopvac though.

I do what's easiest. On the Large that means the ash tool and a tray. On the small I drop the vac hose down into the fire box and let it do the work.

I just use my hands, no ash tool.

I also use a shop vac. I have one of the smallest ones from Lowe's and it works just fine. I probably have to clean and empty it after about 5 or 6 cooks.

I use the vac that goes right on the five gallon bucket from home depot. The tube is smaller. I just put it right through the air intake. Never had a problem.

Not big enough, apparently. Heck my arm fits in there too. And that's on a medium.
