Finally pulled the trigger and got a 22.5" WSM!

Took about 15 minutes to assemble including the first little mod.

Now I need to get her dirty!

Btw, the fuel door neede a little tweaking to get it to fit better, but it still doesn't sit perfectly flat at the top. Is this an issue?

Nice...congrats!!!

Where did you get it?

Never had an issue with door fit on my 18.5, but I've heard issues with the 22.5. Is the opening rounded at the top or square?

AU date code I'm guessing?...from the handle shape/color.

I think once you get some smokes in that beast, the gunk will close up any gaps you might have.

You could also call Weber CS and let them know. They will most likely send you a new door.

Ordered it thru Amazon (via the Virtual Weber Bullet website), got here in 2 days.

It has the rounded top opening. The gaps at this point are maybe 1/8" on the corners, but i think I might be able to tweak it a bit more to get it closer.

Not sure about the date code, where would i find it?

I've got to go get me some charcoal and a some wood chunks (and some meat of course!!) and get er goin!

Date code is stamped in the exhaust vent.

Nice looking cooker.

The date code will be on the vents.

You could also invest in the cajun bandit SS door.

But if it were me, I would try to mold it the best I could and fire it up. It's going to burn hotter at first until you develop some seasoning and close up the gaps.

The important thing is being able to target and maintain the temps you are looking for. If you're able to do that, an 1/8 of an inch isn't going to matter.

Congrats S4! Mine leaked a lot around the lid at first, but I followed brethren advice with pork butts and fatties and now the lid almost has suction when I pull it off.

Enjoy!
