I have a 24x72 main chamber off-set so I am making a grate for a hog so I can place it on the main grate to cook the hog racer style and then take it off to serve. I am thinking that a 20x48 expanded metal grate will do the trick. Am I close to what I will be needing for the dimensions? I am thinking that the 48" length may be too long for a 100-150# hog. Any ideas will be appreciated before I hit the welding shop.

I am not used to doing them racing style but my grate is 4" long and a 150 lb butterflied hog with the head of will barely fit

The grate size should be determined by the door size not the pig.
