Super happy with and it will be "in the rotation" around here. Wifey was also happier ;)
Hope all your Monday nights were as tasty as mine! http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r127/dirtbuddy420/Smilies/e-cheers.gif
Im gonna have to try this someday? Does it taste like fried chicken or like baked chicken with a fry mix on it?

That chicken looks so good would bring a tear to Harlan Sanders eye. I Want to try that and I have 1 question do you spray any cooking spray on the chicken after the dredge or does the chicken fat handle the job?

@ Sway - It surprisingly tasted like fried chicken.
@ Bludawg - No spray was added
@ J'ville - It's just as it comes in the box. To make the variations on the front of the box they give you directions on the side.
@ Kullas - Quick dip in water then into the mix, shake off excess, sit for 15mins then onto grill.

would this style chicken work in competition? The perfect way to get bite-thru skin, could still get some smoke flavor....hmmmm

That's some picture perfect looking grub. I too have been experimenting with KFC a lot recently. I too use a chicken fry coating mix but I make a thick batter with egg+milk. Coat the pieces and just like yours on to a very hot indirect grill. I pull in about 50 minutes for thighs. Comes out with a golden brown crust and so juicy.
That chicken looks totally to-die-for. Quarter to three in the morning, and I'm suddenly starving.

Man, I have never thought of doing "fried" chicken on the grill before. It looks delicious! Definitely going to have to give it a try soon!

Dang, wouldn't mind some chicken of my own right now. That sure looks tastey.
Dirtbuddy, when you say your "first attempt didn't go as planned", what did you do differently this time that you didn't do the first time? I'm not familiar with the bake and fry coating mix you used. Does anyone know if it's similar to any national brand you might find in any market? Your final product really does look outstanding. Can't get that picture out of my mind. Very impressive. :thumb:

All others - Thanks for the kind words
