View Full Version : Pecan Rub on a Brisket Point?

I'm smoking a couple racks of spare ribs on the UDS either tonight or tomorrow. I wanted to find something to smoke while I had the drum going so I dropped by the grocery store at lunch. Found half a brisket point that looked nice so I picked it up. I've been wanting to try burnt ends so I thought this would be a good excuse. Since I have the ribs, not an issue if I mess them up. <smile>

Anyhow, I'll be using the SM Sweet and Spicy rub on the ribs and I'm trying to decide what to use on the point. Does the SM Pecan Rub work well on a brisket point? It's one of the flavors in the sampler that I haven't yet tried. I can always use the S&P with onion and garlic powder or I can go with the Peppered Cow so I have a couple other options.

Any tips on making the burnt ends?

Never tried it, but I'd think the Peppered Cow would be perfect on the point. Maybe a combo of both?

Wow, the bottom right hand corner of that thing has some BEAUTIFUL marbling in it. I've never seen marbling like that in a brisket! Send me a piece of it when it's cooked.

Ever wish you's guys could just eat the screen? lol

Matt, I came in here to say... "Thelma Ritter" but you are right. That is the most amazing marbling.

Ok, from your suggestions I'll go with Peppered Cow.
