i will be starting my first smoker build soon and wanted to know the best way to go about building a basic rig that smokes good and has a pretty simple design. im looking for an offset smoker using a 150gal tank welded to a trailer like most you see. i know i could spend hours on searches looking alot of different types of smokers, but i figured id see some of yalls homemade rigs. also ive been looking around craigslist for the tank but haven't had much luck, where can i pick one up for fairly cheap? and is there really a difference between reverse smokers and regular smokers? would i need to custom build the firebox or find something to just weld to it? any info would be much appriciated

Is there a reason you want a stick burner? What have you used in the past? Is it simply that they look great and you want to start smoking? I ask because you may want to consider a few things before settling on what kind of smoker.
I bet if you build a UDS ( there is a huge thread here) and smoke with it while reading up on this board, you will be better prepared for what kind of smoker to build.

I started with a 120 gal tank and it took off from there.
my advise start smaller, when I started this project I, grossley underestimated Fab. time and cost. do your research and plan carefully.

That is one of the most interesting and different smokers I have ever seen.

this will be my first build....i just wanted to go with something pretty basic and fairly easy to build...i wanted a stick burner basically because i like the mobility of them once welded to a trailer
