View Full Version : Another wood question

I was at my local Smart and Final today and was looking at charcoal prices. I came across a box of oak hardwood firewood. It had maybe 8 or 9 logs in it for 8 bucks. Could this be used in a smoker? I have attached a picture of the box with the woods listed.

As long as the wood has not been treated in any way, you should be able to use it. If you own a charcoal cooker, you'll have to cut the splits into smaller pieces. If you own a stickburner......you're all set, as is.

It's been a LONG time since I read the reasons why, but you dont want to smoke with Walnut. I'm not certain about Almond, and I've never heard of Madrone.

I wouldn't use it, but that's me...
