The top handle is gone and I dont see anything that says weber but sure look like a WSM. As you can tell by the inside pic it looks like it was used once. Best part about this deal is it was FREE:clap2:

It was sitting at a firehouse I got moved to a couple weeks ago. Just sitting outside never looked like it was used. Made some calls to see if I could find the owner. I found him and asked him if he would be interested in selling. Said take it. It was given to him as a gift by FIL and never used it.

Bolts are rusty and I will replace them. Grates need a good fire. So what what you guys think. Find of the week?

Find of the week?

Uh huh! Awesome score!

Flip the door right side up, clean her up a bit, order a new handle from Weber and get to cooking!

Crazy farker didn't appreciate how nice his FIL was.

Score. Tack on a wood handle and you're good to go. I added a thermometer and third rack so I could do more of things like ribs, chicken, and jerky.

...are you sure all the internal pieces are present? I see the lower food grate & the waterpan. Do you have these pieces as well:

- upper food grate (with handles)
- charcoal grate
- charcoal ring

If some of these are missing you can easily get replacements from Weber.

And while I suggested a Weber replacement handle in my earlier post, basuraman made a very fine suggestion. Marty Leach would make you a very nice replacement handle. Here's his website: http://www.amlwoodart.com/

Best part is you know it hasn't been used, because the door was installed upside down!

what's the serial letters on the top lid damper? I wonder how old it is, doesn't really matter, just curious

Sears Hardware sells the exact same bolt that comes on the WSM. I just bought some yesterday.

Flip the door right side up, order a new handle from Weber.

I read online that there is a "mod" where you flip the door for some reason.
Weber has FREE shipping till the end of the month
cod: DAD2012

What is the "3rd rack" mod? Do you have pics?

Mine had rusty bolts when I got it. I just gave them a little scrub with a scotch-brite pad, then painted a little cooking oil on them. The heat from cooking has "seasoned" them nicely. It worked well on the grates also. If you order the new handle from Weber ask for the top handle assembly (they sent me the top half of the handle:confused:, then after another call the bottom half:confused:, then I still had to run to the hardware store to get a stainless screw:rolleyes:) The "assembly" has all three pieces.:-D

Yep, that a pre 2009 model. You might want to replace the water pan with a Brinkman pan. And YES, a new dome handle would be helpful along with flipping the door right side up.

Maybe the door being upside down holds in more heat? Worth a try, anyway!

Mine had a tiny letter E on the top vent. Needed glasses to see what it said. E = 1983
The weber book I have says they started making them in 1981.
