Just wondering if it's any good cause they have it on sale for $2.99 for an 8.8 lb bag at my local Kroger, so I bought a few bags.

Used it once in an emergency. I thought it worked fine.

I bought some once to try. Except for the price, it was fine.

I think I read on here that it is actually rebranded RO Lump.

Its all I use. 5$ for a 8 pound bag. It always has large chunks which I like.

They had it marked down to 3/bag at my local Kroger's the other day, and I was wondering the same thing. If it's still that price next time I go, I'm going to have to buy a couple bags to try.

I've used it. Seemed to work just fine.

It's actually produced by royal oak so can't be too bad

I just used it when I smoked 3 slabs of baby backs last weekend and it worked quite well.

Thanks y'all, I bought a few bags, and plan to try it out this weekend. I think they have the $2.99/bag deal running until next Tues. If it works good, I may go pick up some more. Hard to go wrong at that price.

I wonder if that sale is going on at the Memphis Krogers. I'll have to check it out.

I just checked my local Kroger ad online and they have 50% off of all Kroger brand charcoal. :thumb:

Looks to be, I told my best friend about it down here, and he went to his local Kroger over near Mt Moriah/Poplar, and got it for $2.99/bag.

Went to our Fry's Marketplace (owned by Krogers) yesterday, but alas, there was none on the shelf. Went back today and I grabbed all that was on the shelf, 7 bags (sorry 1911Ron). At $3.19 a bag, not a bad deal. Our WallyWorld just started carrying RO lump.

Can anyone tell me if Kroger lump has all the random chit in it that RO has i.e. bits of asbestos/kiln liner, concrete, rocks, etc? I (and others on here ) have found these things in RO lump before, and is one fo the reasons I stopped buying it. But if Kroger lump is cleaner, I might go pick up a few bags. Also, is it made out of scraps (flooring, trim, etc) or is it made from "real" wood?

I bought one bag a year or so ago. It was all good. Not much dust or tiny pieces, no trash, and appeared all natural wood. I just couldn't justify a dollar a pound for it. On sale, it was good enough for me to grab four.
