Hello All.

I recently installed the digital controller from a 2008 WholeHog paddle wheel unit into my brand new CS450 Auger unit.

Install went well but there seems to be a couple of problems

1. Temp in pit never got below 200 regardless of what the thermostat was set at. I had the dome reading about 210, the RTD for the controller in the middle exhaust hole reading 200 and my Maverik on the far left of grill reading about 190 and it never went lower. This was with the controller set at 170. Smoke or Cook mode did the same thing.

2. When I had the lid open for an extended time to move ribs around or mop with sauce the controller would overshoot setpoint by 100+ when it recovered.

Could these problems be from the digital controller being for a paddle wheel and me having an Auger?

Thoughts?

Some research and some playing has helped me sort this out a bit. It turns out that when it is in smoke mode it is just a timed feed and will not respond to the set temp. So that is good.

Still not sure about the huge swing when I open the door.
