Hi...

I'm DW...DW Frommer II, that is (hey I didn't have no choice about the "II") and I'm a custom western bootmaker by day and a woodturner and novice BBQ'er on weekends.

I have a Chargriller Super Pro with the side fire box and while I am well aware that it isn't top of the line it's the closest thing I could find in my area.

I would have opted for a WSM but I couldn't even find one of those.

I like the CG, although I wish it were made of heavier metal and were a little more airtight. It seems to be pretty versitle especially with the mods that everyone does.

I'm about six months and a walking cane shy of 60 years old, married with two grown kids (one of whom has ominously returned home for Gawd knows how long) and semi-retired--meaning I have my shop out back of the house and it's only fifty yards from a nap anytime I like. That said, I stay pretty busy with a four year backlog.

Thanks for the Forum....

Welcome DW to the neighborhood, from another semi-retired geezer, on the other side of 60. Hope you have as much fun here as I am having, and learn and share

Right ON! Finally, another Oregonian! I'm an Okie transplant.

DW, I took the liberty of looking you up on the Web. You, sir, are a celebrity in the bootmaking world!

Brothers, DW not only has one HELL of a fine mustache (grin), but he has made boots that are on display at the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles.

I welcome and salute you, sir!

I've kind of been waiting to thank you all for your warm welcome...I didn't want to jump in too soon and leave out those who might comment later. So...anyone posting to this thread after my remarks please know that I appreciate your remarks and your welcome.

I was worried that as a non-Bandera owner I might not fit in, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Again, much appreciated.

As for the moustache, that photo is probably ten years old. As I got older the hair in my moustache got grey (in fact it was the first to go grey--most of my head hair is still brown) and grey hair is unruly. It's like the hair just says "hey," I've been doing what you wanted me to do for sixty years, Now I'm gonna do what I want...I've earned it." Believe me when I say that a "bad hair day" right under your nose puts everything in perspective...right now!

The boots? well, I don't like to pimp myself out to people who aren't actively interested, if you know what I mean. I'll post my web address in my profile and those who are curious can take a gander if they want.

Again, thanks for the forum, I've got a lot to learn about Q'ing (just started this summer) and appreciate the help.

DW,
If you get a hankering for a WSM in the future, Amazon is hard to beat

That is a great website you have there.
Congratulations for rising to the top of your profession--well done.

Jorge,

And the 1st Cav in SE Asia. But I ain't no war hero. I shot expert with every weapon handed to me except the M-1 Garand (I'm small and it beat me up) but I got crossways with an officer and I got transfered to a supply unit. Not that I'm complaining, I got out alive and some of my friends didn't. But after 911 and "Band of Brothers" (which most reminded me of my time at Benning in jump school) I got to feeling kind of sentimental about the division patch and my wings. So, like a lot of old farts, I guess, I pinned them on my sport coat and eventually started using the patch as my avatar/signature.

No biggie but nine people out of ten wouldn't know what it was anyway...
