I cooked on my first ceramic grill a few weeks back, and got hooked...immediately. I didn't see what all of the fuss was about, since I could do almost all of the same stuff on my kettle, until I used one myself. I had just got a new Performer a few months back, but it just didn't "do it" for me anymore. So...as the story goes, I found the Kamado I wanted to get and sold my Performer.

I picked up my red Kamado Joe on Wednesday and I did break-in dry runs on Wednesday and Thursday night to learn how it manages temp.

I got Kamado Joe charcoal do use with it of the first few cooks and it's pretty good stuff. Its smell while burning reminds me very much of my favorite lump, "The Good One" brand charcoal, but a bit milder. It's kind of cool to see char branches in this lump. It's good stuff if you get your hands on some.

Then came the time to finally cook on it. I christen every new grill with steaks. Tonight was sirloin for the family.

It was fantastic as I'm sure you can imagine. I think this is the beginning of a wonderful relationship.

Sweet man, welcome to the club! My local ACE just started carrying the kamado joe and it looks like a very nice cooker.

Sweet man, welcome to the club! My local ACE just started carrying the kamado joe and it looks like a very nice cooker.Too me, it took some things about the BGE that I would have done differently, and did them. It's less money with the cart and tables, and has the lifetime warranty on the ceramics.

And it comes in red too. :icon_smile_tongue:

For me, it was the right cooker.

I have had my Kamado Joe for almost 2 years now. It will not disapoint.
It is not a passion, it is more like an addiction now.

You will never regret buying that baby. Unless you need a BigJoe. Love mine, the grill expander is a huge plus too.
