Good morning everyone. I received an email from Kevin, the organizer contact about some preliminary information. Nothing in finalized and this is just a draft, but here is some of the info. Payout looks like it is undetermined until they know how many people are involved.

I don't know any details about the amatuer competition, but he should have those shortly.

He emailed the final one out this morning to some folks.

The deal with peoples choice pork is 3 butts will be provided to each team participating, no charge. You cook them, and just turn in the cooked product at 11AM Saturday morning. No appearance scores, just taste.

I still can't find much at the actual site

Hello everyone, Applications are starting to come in. I'm limited to 8 or 10 20x40 spots and 42 teams total. If you have any questions please reach out to bbq(AT)prideofthefox.com or www.prideofthefox.com or on facebook at www.facebook.com/PrideOfTheFox

Judge applications are coming in fast and we look to have 100% KCBS certified judges. There is still room for a few more judges though.

Also tell your friends about the Amateur competition on Sunday. With their entry fee, we'll provide them a slab of ribs or 8 chicken thighs or both. (although they can use their own). Rules are basically the same, although they can use alternative fuel sources (propane) as long as it is cooked at the contest.

We'd like to get 40 amateurs competing on Sunday.

Feels weird asking for an RV spot, but we paid the extra!

Edit: I did not mean this to be a complaint about the fee for a larger spot. We have often paid for a bigger spot, with only a pop up and a truck. It's just that this one will be our second with the new trailer, that's what feels weird.
Not worrying about cranking up and down, jamming all manner of crap into tiny space, etc. should make this year a lot more fun! Not to mention having an actual fridge!

I dont remember how big your new rig is but when my new rig is done I am going to lay out a 20 X 20 on the driveway and try setting up on an angle to see if I can get it in a 20 X 20 that way .

Trust me when i say you will feel the wind.... Especially when you are getting g 6-8 MPG because of the wind.... its nice when its coming from behind you. I've achieved 15mpg coming home from Iowa and storms chasing me. They are like big sailboats, you just can't take the sails down. Good luck with it Dann. And I can't park a trailer worth sh!t. I can move mine around though.

Eve with my open trailer wind can be a factor .Last year we drove thru a storm on the way to Warrens and on one of the bridges over the Wi river I thought that the wind was going to put me into the bridge ,I cant imagine what a bigger trailer would have been.

I can believe that for sure Scottie! If it's that bad, we might just have to do like RonL and pull over till the wind subsides a bit.

This should be a great event! I hope to come up and hang out a bit. I am going to be passing out flyers for this while I am spreading the word for our event downstate. www.mortonbbqthrowdown.com We just sent our prize letter in to KCBS and we are posting over $6000.00 in prize money. Our event is July 27-28th, only a short drive from Chicagoland. If anyone has questions you can email me at [email protected]

I competed last year. While it wasn't sanctioned then, it was a great event. I'd actually be competing this year to defend my 1st place ribs, but the new date conflicts with meeting I have for work, the job that supports my BBQ hobby. Thanks Ryan for spreading the word for us. We'll help spread the word up here.

We're penciled in for the competition at the moment, we've had to wait until the last minute due to a team member undergoing some medical treatment. We will have a firm answer tonight on whether we can make it - thanks to the contest organizers for being patient with us!

Hopefully we get the green light and will see everyone there. St. Charles is where I grew up and I don't want to miss this one. The grounds for the competition are located in a great spot downtown.

Arcadium is a nice little coffee shop - I believe it has won best coffee house in Kane Co.

We're in for sure now too.

Just received an email from Kevin, here is what it said on the number of teams:

Team’s – there are currently 26 confirmed/paid teams. I have 3 or 4 expressing interest or having mailed in the applications, but I just don’t have them yet. We expect to be around 24-26 teams in total. There are 2 teams competing in their first year of KCBS competition, and there are at least 3 teams from Kane County.
