I have been smokin for several years but I'm always striving to get better. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good book on BBQ / smoking? I don't read that much usually so it will have to be a good one. Not looking for a recipe book. Thanks guys.

There are many books as you can see from the lists in the threads posted.

You will find that most books touch lightly on technique and then follow into a book of recipes.

If you are interested in smoking and curing meats to smoke, I would suggest "meat smoking and smokehouse design" by Stanley, Adam, and Robert Marianski. The book starts out with basics in techniques and elevates to large scale. Although it does get advanced, it covers all basic principals of cold, wet, and hot smoking along with brining and curing meats for smoking.

Although technique is an approach, you will learn that no two smokers cook the same way and personal tastes in brines and cures will differ among individuals. With this in mind you will have to experiment to find the taste you like in the cures and brines.

I am sure there are many others, but I found this book years ago and I still find myself re-reading sections when I tackle new projects to expand my horizons. I am currently building a 6' X 6' cement block smokehouse in my backyard which will be hidden behind my shed.

You will also not only find much information in this website, but you will also find an abundance of people more than willing to help, guide, and provide you with information on your quests.
