That thing probably wouldn't make a good smoker. Too much cheap plastic. It won't be safe to cook on. You need a commercial type fridge made from stainless steel. Thats what I'm using for my build.

Any fridges made in remotely recent history(like the last 30 years) have polyurethene insulation instead of fiberglass like it used to be. Fiberglass can take a good amount of heat, but the polyurethane foam can't.
You can find old refrigerators suitable for making a smoker out of on Craigslist. The really old ones are porcelain coated steel on the inside, and only have a few plastic parts to get rid of. I did some work on a project like this, and everything was going great, until I got to the part where I needed to seal the door. The old gasket was plastic, and would not be able to take the heat. I took it off thinking that finding a suitable high temp replacement would be no big deal.
Well I was wrong! I haven't abandoned the project, but I haven't fooled with it in a while

If you are gonna do all that--why not just build from scratch??
So much easier.

If you get it right, you'd have a MBES that uses wood
