hi,

I'm building a vertical smoker thats gonna have quite a heavy lid.

just wondering if any of you guys have a smart idea for a good hinge, that works well and may be counter balanced in some way

I think you will get more interest and response if you give some detail of your build. Include if you can the size and weight of object to be hinged and ideally how you would like the end result to appear.

I generally make mine out of pipe and cold roll. Go to king metals and follow the links I get all of my ornamental supplies from them their prices are very competitive
