Hi all...I'm glad I found this forum!

Back in the 80's and early 90's we had a standard BBQ grill, nothing special, it had quite a bit of flame and a tray with lava rocks over the flames. That grill was magnificent! Everything tasted great and cooked perfectly. I've been thoroughly disappointed in the grills I've used lately, the kind with the metal plates and endless safety attachments. Are there any grills available today that are like the old ones?

badspell68, i agree with you, i use to have i believe it was a Sunbeam Lava Gas Grill some one gave me, that little grill cooked great with actual flavor, that little grill can out do any gas grill on the market today as far as flavor.

Try Craig's List, brother. You might be able to find a gently used one from back in the day.

I did this to my Weber and cannot say it is a safe way or not. I have used it a few times and I really like the results.

Great!
DO you have a model number on the Webber?
