Just ordered one for my wife. There's a $30 rebate on all kitchenaid 5 - 5 1/2 quart mixers so it wasn't much over $200. She's been eyeing one for a while so I decided to take the plunge. This will be her first stand mixer and I'm excited to give it to her.

I know this is a food mixer but...what else can I use this thing for? How's the meat grinder and sausage stuffer attachments on these things?

God bless,

The meat grinder works fine for small batches.

I absolutely love mine. I have the meat grinder, too.

I don't do much baking, but I still use the thing. I mix my meat loaf in it, I make pizza dough in it, I grind cuts of meat in it that the grocery store doesn't sell, and a lot more. It is a very useful and versatile machine.

The meat grinder is not going to churn out commercial quantities, but it does great job of grinding meat for a family dinner.

I think you will find things to use it for.

I have the ice cream bowl attachment. I've only used it a few times, but it's fun.

We have had one for years. My wife has all the attachments for making pasta, the meat grinder, ice cream maker, etc. I just ordered the sausage stuffer. There is a throwdown to get ready for you know. I just made my first pumpernickel and used the dough hook for a 15 minute knead.

She will love it. You might too.

Very clever thinking. This present is actually for you, as once you give it to her, you WILL get the grinder and stuffer attachment... naturally!

Cheers!

Making bread dough in quantity, if that is her (or your) thing. Pizza for a crowd! While you are at it, maybe she needs a BGE (XL) in order to cook them to the proper crispness. I am sure that she will appreciate your thinking of her.

I inherited my dads 20+ year old kitchen aid. I love to use it.
