View Full Version : Foodsaver and other vacuum sealer question...

So I recently got a food saver 3880. I noticed that when I seal food (so far I have done ribs, ground pork, and chicken breasts) that it does not vacuum out ALL of the air. Their are small "bubble" or "pockets" of air. I have since put the food in the freezer and noticed the slightest bit of "frost" inside the package on these parts.

Is this normal? I would think not but I have no experience with these types of products.

I have not noticed this with my Food Saver. I do notice that with moist foods it may not seal as tight but I have never had frost on the inside of the bag.

It happens. Even with an expensive chamber sealer I still have spots where there are gaps. Now, this does not mean that there is air in there. Usually it is more due to the lack of flexibility of the bag.

Usually when all the air doesn't come out you need to check your seal. It's either the seal isn't seated well or the bag isn't completely flat (between the seals) when you are vacuuming. Should work fine. If you still have problems give their customer support line a call.

I've noticed the same thing Phrasty mentions with the bag - seems to be the only problem I've had - been using mine for 5+ years now. Couldn't do without it!

Yeah, that's normal. It's been my experience that you will almost always have a bit, depending on what you're sealing.
