Interesting, came across this today never seen one before or mentioned on this forum. I know most of us just use our shop vacs but this one seems designed for vacuuming ash.
The "Source" is Canadian for Radio Shack. I was thinking that when the vacuum eventually craps out you can use the canister to build a mini UDS or WSM, :thumb:

And yet another great idea from our brethren north of the border!

My dad had a cloth bag type deal that went over the filter in his shop vac and he used it to vacuum out ash all the time. When done, dump out the ash, shake out the bag and the shop vac is back to regular use.

Wonder if it's still available.

I just use a small shopvac I picked up on sale at HD a while back. After a few uses, I just pull the filter and use a brush to clear the pleats. Lasted a good five years now.

With that said, keeping ashes and moisture out of your firebox is the key to keeping rust at bay.

Put about 2-3 inches of water in the bottom of your wet/dry vac. It traps the ash and keeps the dust from being exhausted out.

There are several models available.

Bloody typical, Canadians get a single choice and in the US you have three whole pages on Amazon to choose from. :mad2:
The good news is it seemed to be a good price.

Have you seen this?
It is a vacuum that you attach to a 5 gal bucket.
I would think this would be usable. They sell for 20 bucks.
