I camp a lot and had a buddy make me a campfire cooking grate.
I had him build it 20"X40".
He polished it to make it smooth for cooking directly on ...
I seasoned it today. (Crisco and a hot fire for a couple hours)

I wasn't sure where to post this,so if it's in the wrong spot, please move it. Thanks.

Soon, I'm going to use a spare Weber lid to see if it will trap a little smoke on Chicken halves...
Worst case scenario its grilled Chicken that may cook a little faster.

Lots of places I camp have fire pits, fire rings or tractor rings for fires.
It's only natural to show out and cook on them.
Most National park grills are beyond anyone but the desperate using them...
SO... I gonna take my own...
