Was preheating my offset and looked out window to see huge billowing dark smoke coming out of chimney. Opened the door to porch and could hear the grease roaring inside. So extinguished that and started over. My maverick probe for the smoker is fried, just reads HHH:tsk:

Anyway going strong now

Anyone else ever had a grease fire in your offset?

WOW!

Had one in my UDS before cooking chicken. Let it get way too hot while trying to turn chicken parts this summer. Scared the CHIT out of me. Glad you're OK!

I haven't had one in an offset and that is one thing I really like about them. Thanks for the heads up as I pretty much never worried about it from an offset.

I have had a grease fire in my Bubba Keg. Nothing as exciting as flames shooting out of a hot grill several feet above your head.

The nose of the smoker where the drain is must be lower than the firebox end......i

Sign of a good cook is how fast you recoup, see my don't do long, post. Also what don't kill you will make you stronger.
