View Full Version : King of the Zeros! - AKA The Official Rules Gathering for the upcoming ZERO THROWDOWN!!!!

***MOD NOTE***

This thread is being intentionally hijacked in order to come up with the official rules for the upcoming ZERO THROWDOWN! I am placing this notice here to advise readers just now opening this thread for the first time that they can post their own rules so long as they do so in this manner:

The first rule will be #1, and will go in sequential order upwards in whole number increments (by one digit). You must put your rule number before your rule, and make sure the number you use is the next number in sequence, otherwise I will have my way with your silly little rule and you may or may not like my edits.

I'll start.

#1 - Anyone can participate.

**END MOD NOTE, We now return you to Guerry's original post***

Now that I have, ahem, SEVEN zeros, two using ribeye no less (King me baby!) I think there should be another shot at having a special Zero TD sometime this winter season. It could be a great cabin fever reliever.

Thoughts?

Since I've competed in two TD's, and I have two zeros, I would wholeheartedly participate. I've actually got some confidence i might break my streak in the it came from the sea TD. I might get a vote or two!

How would a Zero TD function? Or is it just limited to Zero Club members?

deguerre
11-07-2011, 11:30 AM
I don't think it should be limited to Zero holders, but perhaps inspired by a Zero entry. Special rules could be involved for those entries by zero holders however...we'll have to trust Bigabyte and Gore for the math though...

That would be interesting. I like the "inspired by a zero entry" rule but how would you go about looking all of those up?

I would vote for making it a "Special Throwdown" for Zero holders only... Kinda like the FNG ones we have every now and then... Many of us worked pretty hard for our zeros  and I think we deserve a little special attention... :becky:

Moose likes this!

I brought this up a while ago, then it fizzled out:

www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96611 (http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96611)

I definitely think participants should be limited to those who have received at least one Zero in the past. The looming question is, what are the parameters of this TD category?

I think a good start may be for each person to show a pic of a past Zero entry, then remake it, with the intention of it being an improvement upon the Zero entry..

Here's one of my past Zero's:

http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae286/Pashn8one/IMG_0289-1.jpg

I think I could improve upon this...at least one would hope!

I forgot about the Rooky, Virgin and FNG TDs. Good point! Limit to zero holders.

And as to Moose's idea, I could definitely improve on this...

It was very tasty but execution and presentation could have been a wee bit, um...

One other small twist, each zero holder can submit as many entries as they have zeros, but they each have to be based on a different zero.

I don't have time to come up with the rules though. So I am going too leave that to you guys. Please make the special rules we will be following, listed in numerical order. What that means is you put a number before your rule, and the number you use must be the next number in sequential order after the one listed in the prior posted rule.

I'll start.

1. Anyone can participate.

Just a few points of clarification - Will we be required to stay in our bare feet the entire time or just when we are in close proximity to the grill or smoker?

If so could there be some special dispensation for any grilling or smoking that takes longer than 4 hours?

Could Rule 22 be suspended if there is more than 2 inches of snow on the ground or if the temperature outside is below freezing?

Could we wear shoes of we agree to grill or smoke sans pants?

Will pictures be required of this step of the grilling or smoking process?

30. For those that drink alcohol, all pictures must be taken with a blood alcohol level of .08 or greater. For those that don't, all pictures must be taken after spinning around 8 times.

A blood alcohol level of .08 is for wussies. I could spin around 8 times with a level of .08. If you have real zero DNA, you will not remember taking to pictures in the morning.

The 70s.

No, no, no. The real buzz comes from tokin' while doing deep knee bends.

Well, at least that is what I convinced a few of my stoned friends would give them a killer buzz. The only thing better than a good buzz, is being the one guy in a room who doesn't have a buzz. :heh:

And, I didn't take pictures. :tsk:

Say, after you get up from your next nap, maybe you could get started on finishing up those TD certs you've been working on? I imagine you've got just a few left, so you might as well get caught up finally! :becky:

I also imagine you'll want to create an extra special one for our first Zero TD. :thumb:

...

[list of names and numbers associated with them]
...

I hate to break it to you all, but these numbers just do not add up, especially taking the zeros associated with this post into account:

Well now, hold on a minute. This one is complicated.

[blah, blah, blah...]

Then, Rule #6 is applied to all ODD numbered totals

[and more blah, blah, blah]

Next, Rule #9 is applied to all EVEN numbered totals

[Now we get to the heart of the matter!]

caseydog - 46 x 0 = 0
Team Sicily - 12 x 0 = 0
watertowerbbq - 10 x 0 = 0
ecode - 8 x 0 = 0
Oldyote - 20 x 0 = 0
Gore 1 - 10 x 0 = 0
GARNAAL - 1/4
bluetang - 1/4
Gore 2 - 4 x 0 = 0
Gore 3 - 6 x 0 = 0
Smokey Al Gold - 2 x 0 = 0
Redhot - 18 x 0 = 0
Gore 4 - 6 x 0 = 0
colonel00 - -1/2
FattyMac 1 - 2 x 0 = 0
FattyMac 2 - -6 x 0 = 0
deguerre - -2 x 0 = 0
Shiz-Nit - 16 x 0 = 0
Gore 5 - -2 x 0 = 0
Gore 6 - -2 x 0 = 0
Gore 7 - 0 x 0 = 0
Gore 8 - 10 x 0 = 0
Will work for bbq 1 - 8.5
Will work for bbq 2 - -0.5
Gore 9 - 8 x 0 = 0
Phubar - 8 x 0 = 0

[Finally some more blah, blah, blah follows]

Notice that these zeros were not included in the tally as Gore received 9, yes NINE, zeros in this throwdown! I think that puts catapults me to the front of the pack. :becky:

Indeed, I missed that (because it was not part of official polling results).

So Gore's total needs to be adjusted upwards by nine, and FattyMac gets an extra two zero's as well!:becky: Of course, this is only so long as you are looking the the total when adjusted for FOIL and SQUIRREL points. Otherwise the original list is the correct one.

However, you will both need to remember to add these to your totals, because the report I use can not catch these.

Gore
11-10-2011, 03:25 PM
Well of course we'd use FOIL and SQUIRREL points. What do you take us for?

So, you expect us to believe that Chris's high-tech, fancy-shmancy computer program that he wrote to tabulate all the zeros (and doesn't include the zeros from the very throwdown that was named after him) is not able to reliably count past one? ... Yeah, we probably should have a recount. :tsk:
