2) Each team shall consist of a chief cook and as many assistants as the chief cook deems necessary. A team shall not compete in more than one contest under the same team name, on the same date. Chief cooks and/or assistant cooks may only cook for their designated team at the contest they are attending.

My question is: if there is a contest on a Friday and Saturday (normally what they are) and another one on Saturday and Sunday, can a team cook at both, under the same name? I read it as the Saturday would be the same day for both contests, and the answer would be NO..... or because they are are on different start and end dates even though they are on the same weekend that they are not technically the same date???

The "date" in this case is the turn in day. So, yes, one team can compete in a contest that has turn ins on Saturday and then compete in a contest that has turn ins on Sunday. There are a lot of double contests that work like this and some teams will travel immediately after a contest one day to compete in one that starts that day and has turn ins on the next.

Thanks, I was wondering about that one as I was looking at results and saw that.... it threw me for a loop.... LOL

There were several teams and the events were almost 100 miles apart....

It happens from time to time, sometimes half way across the country...

Waterloo (Fri -Sat) and La Porte City (Sat - Sun) Iowa are 12 miles apart. The American Royal is another one.

Since ZBQ has 2 pitmasters, we sometimes split the team to suit people's schedules and cover more contests. This year we also tried a Fri/Sat and a Sat/Sun on the same weekend in two different locations. Perfectly acceptable to KCBS as long as the turn ins are on different dates. (Worked out OK, we both got top 10 finishes too. :becky:)

I believe the purpose of the above rule is to prevent people from doubling down and entering the same contest twice using two different names. You will also get DQ'd if you do two different contests that have turns ins on the same day, using different people but the same team name.
