My name is Ken and I have been smokin' meat for 20 years or more for friends and family. started with a bullet style smoker and used those for many years. About three years ago I picked up an SNP for my first offset. I have done the mods but the thin steel keeps me way too busy. After discovering the Pitmaster's show on TLC, I talked my wife in to ordering me a Jambo for my 50th birthday (just a week away). I have been thinking about trying competition so that I can meet others who share my passion for BBQ and see how I stack up against them. I plan on attending (not competing) the last two KCBS events this year in my area just to get a feel for what it is like.

I discovered this forum when doing searches about Jambo pits. Seems like a great bunch of people and I look forward to learning from all of you as I read through your posts.

Thanks for the welcome. John, maybe you can guide me to a few good butchers in our area. I have been getting most of my meat at the Costco or the supermarket. I was thinking of trying the Reading Market. Any other ideas?

Thanks Big George. I went to the Harrisburg comp this weekend and had a great time. I hung out with Tom from Blind Pig BBQ. I can see that the community is a great bunch of guys and Tom was very helpful showing me the ropes.

Hello fellow Pennsylvanian! I may be heading out to Smoketoberfest. My daughter goes to Shippensburg U. so the fest is only about 20 mins away.
