With the fall weather hitting home this weekend, apples and pork seemed to be the wise course of action so I took a spin at Chris Lilly's Pork Loin with Apple Bourbon BBQ Sauce.

We followed his recipe for the BBQ sauce except used
Apple moonshine for bourbon (Hey, this is East Tennessee)
Dr. Pepper for cola (because of our favorite cocktail has that and 'shine)

Bought a pork loin at Sam's for 1.99/lb vs the 3.99/lb the stupidmarket was selling them for and cut it into two roasts and six chops.

Seasoned one of the 3 lb roasts with the dry rub or a version thereof.

Seared it over a 450f direct fire 5 minutes a side and then switched my Big Green Egg over to indirect heat. Cooked it until it hit 130f internal...

and then sauced it, cooked it until it reached 140f internal.

After a 10-15 minute rest letting it come up to 150f, we sliced it thin.

It was one of the best pork loin roasts we've done and the sauce could go with many, many things!
