He lost me when he brought out the lighter fluid.
The video should have been called 'Petroleum Pig' .

Nothin' like petroleum distillates to enhance the flavor of a slow cooked pig. Morons!

It reminds me of a story I was told at a competition from a Head Judge. It was at an unsanctioned competition (thankfully). Table had 5 judges, they were judging ribs. As the scores came off the table everything was in line with norm, no problems. Then the last judge turned in his scores. Right off the bat the head judge noticed a problem and questioned that last judge. All 4 other judges had given this one entry very VERY high marks in taste, and this one last judge slammed them with an EXTREMELY low score. What's up, the Head Judge asked. He explained that the ribs smelled and tasted heavily of lighter fluid. This cant be right, said the Head Judge to himself, so they both went back to the table and sure enough there were a couple of ribs left over. He smelled the ribs; sure enough they had a pronounced lighter fluid smell. He took a small bite of one of the ribs and darned if it didnt taste like lighter fluid...

Nothing to do. The scores were the scores.

He did come away with a lesson: Some people like the taste of lighter fluid.

How to cook a whole hog........for 12 hours.........with only 3 pounds of charcoal.
I'm still speechless about this video. How much does a hog like that cost? $100?

Maybe the pig is finished, and they're just doing a reverse sear.

Putting lighter fluid on hot coals is downright dangerous. I have a friend who almost died because someone decided to spray lighter fluid on hot coals, The fluid ignited, steam flashed and jumped about 6' past the grill onto her polyester shirt. She had third degree burns on her neck and back. I first met her 10 years or so after the accident, she always chooses high necked shirts and dresses to hide the scars. Thankfully, other than the scars she has no lingering health issues from this event. Stay safe.

What a waste of a perfectly good hog. Can't wait to see high temp lighter fluid ribs, and chicken.

Diesel would burn longer and give more flavor!

I prefer gasoline. It's cheaper than starter fluid.

I would have stabbed him in the gut with his bbq fork (which I'm sure he has nearby to let out those pesky juices.), were I there.
